ICCOC is a cooperation unit jointly founded by Republic of Indonesia and the People's Republic of China, to encourage develovment and cooperation in Marine Science and technology, to advance scientific marine research and to contribute to the protection of the coastal and marine environment towards the use of their resources sustainably.
ICCOC was established according to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Marine Cooperation between the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia (MMAF-RI) and the State Oceanic Administration of the People's Republic of China (SOA-PRC) signed in Jakarta on 10th Nove mber 2007 and the Protocol Amending the MoU signed in Jakarta on 29th April 2011. Furthermore this role of ICCOC enhanced into a national level through Arrangement signed by the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia and the administrator of State Oceanic Administration of the People's Republic of China on 23rd March 2012 in Beijing.
